June 2021: My first 90 days in the office

Reflections from our  recently appointed CEO, Palesa Matuludi

Firstly, let me thank you for your partnership over the time you have traversed this journey with Children of the Dawn. On behalf of our 791 orphans and vulnerable children and staff, we are grateful for your support which helps to shape young lives. We could not have achieved such great milestones without your continued support

I am truly moved by your goodwill; I have seen Ubuntu in action as I get to know our corporate and individual sponsors.

I have witnessed the African proverb ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ through the social cohesion between the families, relatives, villagers, our staff, corporate and individual sponsors across the globe; our village is global and we are a blessed organisation to have such a caring community.

Children of the Dawn has been blessed with a dynamic team both at national office and in the eight rural communities.

Children of the Dawn has been blessed with a dynamic team both at national office and in the eight rural communities.

Words cannot express their commitment, they have a genuine interest at heart in each individual beneficiary; our children are not a number, they are future leaders with a bright future ahead of them and they are dearly loved.

What an amazing opportunity to have joined Children of the Dawn! The organisation’s commitment to developing the youth that come from such challenging backgrounds is evident in how the programmes are designed and executed for holistic development.

As I have been doing site visits, not only meeting with the staff but also visiting the families of the children, the resilience and drive in the children is evident and I am inspired by their ability to dream big! The gratitude expressed by guardians for the support they receive has been touching; food parcels, seedlings to start home vegetable gardens, and the growth they see in the children due to the various programmes the children are exposed to has been heartwarming.

My first three months have been focused on getting to know the organisation, its culture, values, processes and fundraising. It has been a fulfilling first three months and I look forward to many more fulfilling years to come
