Children of the Dawn Beneficiaries Represent South Africa at the Frontball World Championships

In November 2025, Children of the Dawn beneficiaries Banele from Ermelo and Gauda from Qwaqwa proudly represented South Africa at the Frontball World Championship III in Mexico City, competing alongside athletes from five continents.

Although they did not progress beyond the first round, the opportunity provided valuable international exposure and helped them develop confidence, discipline, resilience and determination. They experienced different cultures, competed on an unfamiliar court and learned what it takes to perform at an international level. Their participation highlights the impact of Children of the Dawn’s Sports for Good programme, which uses sport to develop young people’s skills, confidence and character while creating opportunities that extend beyond their communities.

Banele and Gauda’s journey demonstrates how access to sport, mentorship and meaningful opportunities can help young people dream bigger, discover their potential and represent their communities on the global stage. We are incredibly proud of both young athletes for their courage, commitment and determination in proudly representing South Africa and Children of the Dawn.
